Portfolio - January 6, 2017
Based on January 6, 2017
Hi Folks!
I will be updating my portfolio every 2 weeks to reflect any market fluctuation and any purchases/sells. I reinvest all the dividends that I earn, which is why there are fractional shares in my portfolio.
The Numbers
Since I started investing in December 2015, my portfolio has gone up +$365.39, which represents a +12.07%! In 2016 - I made $56.22 in dividends. In 2017, my goal is to make at least $200-300. I am starting out small, while contributing also to my 401K.
I set out goals last year that I wanted to reach 4-5K in my brokerage account. I miss it by $600. I do however some cash that I keep in the account in case I see some discounted stocks.
In the future, I am looking to invest in $T, $AAPL, $JNJ, $COL.
Thanks for reading

Stocks Acquired in 2016
This post is about the 4 stocks that I invested in 2016. They are from 3 different sectors: Consumer Goods, Health Care and Financial - REIT. I am mostly focused on acquiring discounted dividend growth stocks. I find a lot of my stocks by researching various websites (dividend.com, blogs, etc.) and I also follow Jason Fieber's new blog. Many of the stocks that he currently owns are also in my portfolio.
In 2016 - I got hired at my first job in an investment firm here in the U.S. I started saving as much as I can - contributing to my first 401K in the US and accumulating as much money in my brokerage account to buy valuable dividend growth stocks.
I am basically starting from 0. For those who do not know, I moved from Canada and got married to my long time boyfriend - now husband of over a year and moved to the U.S. in late 2015. Since then - I have lived in 2 different states because of my husband's job. I now feel that my life is beginning to settle little by little.
At 26 - Yes I am planning my future retirement and so should you! I DRIP (dividend reinvestment) all my dividends and do not plan on taking out the funds anytime soon.
I am now focusing on diversifying my portfolio. In 2016 - I found that I have concentrated too much of my funds in Consumer Goods, and I am now looking at the Telecom, Health and Financial-REITs sectors.
